Community Outreach & Trainings

The Community Outreach and Engagement program focuses on informing the public about Behavioral Health and Recovery Services (BHRS) programs and services, gathers community input and feedback, delivers community-wide activities, events, and trainings that reach diverse populations represented throughout the county, as well as implements vital mental health and well-being campaigns. Our outreach efforts have a special emphasis on un/underserved populations and/or populations disproportionately impacted by inequities, including older adults, those experiencing lack of shelter, Lesbian, Gay, BiSexual, Transgender and Queer/Questioning (LGBTQ+) communities, Latinx individuals, monolingual Asian populations, and community members living in Marin City.

Mental Health First Aid

Marin County Behavioral Health and Recovery Services, through Mental Health Services Act/Prevention and Early Intervention, provides FREE Adult Mental Health First Aid trainings.

This course will teach how to help an adult who is experiencing a mental health or addiction challenge or is in crisis. The course introduces common mental health challenges for adults and teaches a 5-step action plan for how to help people in both crisis and non-crisis situations. Topics covered include anxiety, depression, substance use, disorders in which psychosis may occur, disruptive behavior disorders (including AD/HD), and eating disorders. Anyone can take the 8-hour Mental Health First Aid course – including first responders, students and teachers, leaders of faith communities, service providers, and caring citizens. This course is not intended for trained mental health providers.

The Cuerpo Corazón Comunidad program is hosted by Multicultural Center of Marin and airs live every Wednesday at 11am PST on radio stations KBBF 89.1 FM, KWMR 90.5, 89.9, 92.3 FM, online, and watched live via the Facebook page of Cuerpo Corazón Comunidad.
